First mega-city in human history. This city is a museum of history and record of milestones in the development of mankind.
There are a huge quantity of masterpiece buildings. In the centre of Rome, most buildings are 100-200 years old, some are 300 years or more. New buildings are located away from the centre.
The most remarkable building in Rome is of course the Coliseum (Italian - Colosseo) due to its enormous size. Seats are provided for many people. Just imagine almost 2000 years ago the emperors of Rome sat in boxes here. Both rich and poor citizens also watched gladiator fights.
It is good to buy a ticket for a tour bus like “Hop-on-Hop-off” - so you can get to see more interesting places quicker than you would on your feet. If you have local friends who can show you all the wonders of Rome that means you are very lucky!
Outside the city to the east - you can stroll through a beautiful park where you can still find pieces of ancient aqueducts.
In the Vatican there are always a lot of visitors, if you decide after all to have a tour there then be patient because there are long queues!
Italian ice cream is wonderful!
