Did you know that the smallest U.S. state Rhode Island has another name – "The Ocean State" or "State in the Ocean"? It is a unique place on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean and only an hour drive from Boston.

It's hard to describe the popularity of this small state and all due to the fact that along the entire coast stretches a huge number of coves and bays, which in combination with coastal parks create a romantic and unique atmosphere.

For several centuries, sailors going into these cozy Bay, found peace and entertainment at local gay taverns and restaurants. And today in this state are based the largest yacht club in the world and Rhode Island is called the sailing capital of the world!

If you walk along the coast, you can see the fleet of the U.S. Navy, which is one of its bays.

And of course the most famous town in the state – Newport has a mild climate and a beautiful coastline with clear blue waters. In the 18th century the most wealthy families of America, such as Astor and Vanderbilt, began to settle here, erecting mansions of incredible size and beauty. Today these palaces have become museums that are popular places for many tourists where you can enjoy a combination of old style glamour with the magnificence of nature.
